Notes for Maj. Robert Pike:
Robert Pike was one of the founding settlers of Salisbury Massachusetts in 1639.
He was recounted by Whittier as "one of the wisest and worthiest of the
early settlers".
Though a Puritan, he advocated religious tolerance to the Quakers, and
alone stood against the judges during the Witchcraft Hysteria of 1692.

John graduated Harvard
College in 1675 and came to Dover in 1678, whrere he became the established
minister. He moved extensively
throughout his life between New Hampshire, Maine, and Massachusetts.
