Notes for Rev. Joseph Gerrish:

Rev. Gerrish was the minister at Wenham Massachusetts from Jamuary 1674 until his death.

Marriage Notes for Joseph Gerrish and Anna Waldron:

There is a possibility that Joseph and Anna were married in Salem in 1672.  The record of the event, if it is indeed a record of the event, is apparently undecipherable except for Joseph Green's name and the year of the marriage.  However, the date and location of the event make sense.

Children of Joseph Gerrish and Anna Waldron are:

Generation No. 3

@14.  Elizabeth3 Gerrish (Joseph2, William1) was born 18 December 1673 in Wenham Massachusetts37, and died 22 March 1746/47 in Medford Massachusetts38.  She married (1) Rev. Joseph Green 18 February 1698/99 in Wenham, Massachusetts39 (intention), son of Jonathan Green and Ruth Michelson.  He was born 24 October 1674 in Cambridge Massachusetts40, and died 26 November 1715 in Salem, Massachusetts41.  She married (2) Joseph Pierce 25 March 1719 in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, son of Joshua Pierce and Dorothy Pike.  He was born 14 January 1670/71 in Newbury Massachusetts42, and died 17 February 1742/43 in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.

Notes for Elizabeth Gerrish:

The Salem  vital records for Elizibeth's marriage to Rev. Joseph Green indicate that she is "Mrs ELizabeth Gerrish, d. of Rev. Joseph of Wenham."  This is a difficult item to interperet. If she had been married before, she could not have been a Gerrish originally.  So we are left to wonder whether she was Rev. Joseph Gerrish's wife of his daughter.  Indeed, there was an Elizabeth Gerrish born at Wenham Massachusetts, daughter of Joseph Gerrish, on 18 Dec 1673.  I am forced to conclude that the record is incorrect as to the "Mrs" in the record, and that this is the first marriage for Elizabeth Gerrish..

The record further states the marriage date as 16 March 1708-09, while the Parish record indicates the year as 1699.  Given the dates of birth of her children with Joseph Green, the Parish record appears to be correct.
